Description

Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs, the Head Women's Tennis Coach is responsible for ensuring the program's success as directly related to the skill development and performance of the student-athletes, as well as the recruitment, retention, and conduct of the student-athletes. All staff members are responsible for complying with the policies and procedures set forth by Hofstra University, the Coastal Athletic Association, the NCAA and the job requirements specific to the particular assignments inherent to tennis. This position requires working weekends and holidays and attending athletic events as appropriate.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Identifies, recruits, retains, and develops quality student-athletes to ensure the overall success of the tennis program.

Arranges team practices and competitive match schedules.

Exhibits strong teaching and coaching skills, with expertise in all technical aspects of the game.

Monitors student-athlete eligibility in collaboration with academic advisors and coordinates study hall requirements.

Attends staff meetings, compliance sessions, and rules education workshops as required.

Manages the team budget, including expenses related to recruiting, equipment, travel, uniforms, and supplies.

Leads and participates in both sport-specific and department-wide fundraising initiatives.

Recommends financial aid awards, National Letters of Intent, and decisions regarding renewal or non-renewal of aid, and documents non-renewals or disciplinary suspensions.

Participates in sport and department-wide community service initiatives.

Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Valid driver's license.

Minimum 1-3 years relevant work experience.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred.

Salary/Salary Range

$43,000 - $45,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
