Position: Director of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Reports To: Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent Start Date: December 15, 2025 Compensation: $146,951 - $170,226 Application Date: Posting will remain open until filled Summary of Position: The Director of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum serves as a visionary instructional leader responsible for advancing high-quality teaching and learning across PreK-12 classrooms.

This role is central to building a data-responsive, equity-driven instructional system that empowers educators, accelerates student growth, and aligns with district strategic goals.

The Director will lead curriculum development, instructional innovation, and professional learning while fostering a culture of shared leadership and continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop and implement a comprehensive instructional plan that aligns with the District's vision.

* Lead the development and implementation of instructional practices grounded in student performance data and formative assessment cycles.

* Collaborate with school leaders to ensure instructional planning is differentiated, inclusive, and responsive to diverse learner needs.

* Monitor instructional impact through data dashboards, walkthroughs, and collaborative analysis protocols.

* Design and implement systems to identify, develop, and engage teacher leaders across the District.

* Align District professional development offerings with teacher efficacy goals, instructional priorities, and school improvement plans.

* Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and coaching models that promote reflective practice and incremental, and persistent instructional growth.

* Oversee curriculum cycles, including adoption, revision, and implementation of standards-aligned instructional materials.

* Ensure instructional models are research-based, highly reliable, and adaptable to student needs.

* Support vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment across grade levels and content areas.

* Analyze student data to identify areas to improve learning outcomes and inform instructional decisions.

* Plan and facilitate professional learning opportunities to ensure all staff are trained in delivering approved curricula and are knowledgeable of compliance requirements.

* Establish student performance benchmarks for approved curricula and monitor accountability systems.

* Collaborate with school and central office leaders to develop an annual assessment calendar.

* Partner with district and school leaders to align teaching and learning initiatives with strategic plans, evaluation frameworks, and improvement goals.

* Provide oversight for district data warehouse for assessments and ongoing training for staff.

* Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge and demonstrated experience of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

* Knowledge of current educational research and theories * Knowledge of Board of Education policies and procedures * Strong oral and written communication skills * Effective, active listening skills * Creative problem-solving skills and a systems-oriented thinker * Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others * Demonstrated skills in data literacy and performance analysis * Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation * Ability to handle and treat information confidentially * Ability to read, interpret, and summarize data * Ability to provide instructional coaching and adult learning * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community * Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints Education and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree in elementary or secondary education, core content specific area, or related field * Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field * Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience and three years in instructional leadership * Minimum of two years of school building level leadership experience preferred Certification: * Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Professional Educator Certification in Elementary or Secondary Education or related field * Connecticut Intermediate Administrator or Supervisor Certification (092) or eligibility * Executive Leadership Program credential preferred.

Supervisory Requirements: The Director of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum supervises the Instructional Specialists (PK-6 and 7-12). For more information please see flyer attached.
