Genesee IntermediateJob Summary: The Base Camp Facilitator will provide leadership and a day to day supervision and management of high ropes and/or climbing wall elements which include both indoor and outdoor environments. User groups to include a full range of clientele from school aged children to corporate level individuals and groups. The Base Camp Facilitator will provide an overall instruction, supervision and oversight for multiple users under possible stressful circumstances. The Facilitator will be responsible for providing a safe and appropriate opportunity for user groups to gain maximum benefit from the selected program and to provide a physical and emotionally safe experience to participants while working effectively in a team solution.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
Plans activities that are relevant to the group training objectives.
Maintains physical and emotional safety for all user groups and self.
Responsible for the safety of all elements used.
Responsible for props and equipment needed for the specific program.
Conducts an adventure program that is experiential in nature and action oriented.
Directs outcomes of user groups through sequenced activities, processing and feedback.
Enhances, reflects, transfers, and supports learning and change.
Addresses concerns, and deals with conflict, and emotions constructively.
Enhances experience and transfer by effective closing activities.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the program.
Assists core staff as needed or directed.
Achieves and maintains certification in CPR, First Aid, and safety related practices as directed.
Maintains activity certifications by participating in professional development activities and workshops as directed.
Provides information and instruction to user groups.
Records equipment use information inspects and stores as needed.
Participates in "In - House" staff training.
Maintains program and operational standards and procedures as directed.
Consistently models win-win leadership. Other Duties:
Performs routine tasks necessary to facilitate the responsibilities in the assigned area.
Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required. Other formal training related to essential functions preferred. Formal training or certification from current service challenge course provider, (Experiential Systems Inc.). Valid and update CPR, First Aid, and certifications required. Successful completion and maintenance of certifications is a condition of employment. Additional certifications will be required from time to time as a condition of continued employment.
Experience:
Training and experience working with all ages and older populations. Familiar with portable initiatives and cooperative activities. Knowledge of group dynamics, excellent facilitation skills, and a solid understanding of experiential education models. Successful training and experience in High Ropes Course(s), Rock Wall and Ground Initiatives.
