General Statement of Duties The Forsyth County Department of Public Health is seeking to add a well skilled Certified Medical Assistant to its clinical team.

The medical assistant provides care to patients as directed under supervision of NP/MD/RN in the clinical setting.

They will warmly welcome patients into the clinic, obtain and record vital signs, chief complaints, medical histories.

Performs ordered lab test and blood draws.

Cleans and transitions rooms preparing for next patient.

Prepares patients for examination, assists providers during procedures.

Cleans equipment and processes instruments for sterilization as assigned.

Adheres to patient safety standards, HIPPA and confidentiality.

Accurately documents in the electronic medical record.

Serves patients with respect regarding their sexual orientation, gender identity, developmental level, race, etc.

Start date for this position will be on or after July 1, 2025 Distinguishing Features A successful candidate shou have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities Basic knowledge of the social, economic, and environmental conditions of clients to be served.

Ability to establish rapport and relate to population served and a variety of service disciplines (nurse, doctor, social worker). Ability to follow written instructions.

Ability to do basic interviews for health screenings.

Ability to document in an electronic medical record.

Ability to recognize basic orders and lab requests to accurately fill out forms and transport specimens.

Ability to perform venipuncture, in a safe manner, and collect other specimens as ordered.

Ability to access the NC Immunization Registry to assess vaccine needs and record vaccines given.

Minimum Education and Experience High School Diploma/GED and one year experience as a certified medical assistant with phlebotomy experience.

Certified Medical Assistant and CPR Certification is required.

A valid drivers license is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential functions include but are not limited to: Ensure exam rooms are prepared for visit type.

Obtains weight, height, B/P, vital signs; Interview clients obtaining history, chief complaint, review of medications.

Assisting with patient care during appointments.

Ensures accurate documentation in the EMR.

Specimen collection and prepares for transport to the lab.

Cleans equipment and processes instruments for sterilization.
