JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the transportation department. Responsibilities will include a variety of tasks including but not limited to providing clerical and administrative support to the Supervisor of Transportation, Transportation Coordinator and Transportation Specialist. Also includes partnering with Bucks IU staff including Transportation, Nursing, and Business Department as well as contractors and school districts.

Essential Functions:

Communicates effectively with drivers, contractors, parents, and district personnel.

Assists with attendance logs and entering odometers as well as oversee odometer entry by staff.

Performs any record keeping/clerical functions assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation.

Assists with emergencies that may occur outside of his/her assigned duties. These emergencies may include transporting students, assisting with accidents, or acting as a vehicle aide.

Assists with maintaining annual student list, vehicle report, and route reports in database.

Assists with processing and reconciling daily costs for end of year reporting.

Assists with reconciling nursing invoices as well as track IU and contracted nurses with assigned students.

Assists with reconciling contractor invoices. Establish costs per IU routes and confirm contractor charges with established rates, time computation, and mileage.

Performs any record-keeping/clerical functions necessary to ensure the smooth operation and efficient organization of the department.

Identify and implement process improvement opportunities for the Bucks IU.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 260-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Qualifications

The starting salary is $44,989 and is based on education and experience .

Education and Experience :

Level of Degree:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Accounting/Business management experience is preferred.

Transportation experience is desirable.

Clear MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum 5 years' experience in an administrative assistant/accounting position desired

Strong computer and mathematical skills, including use of excel and database application software

Strong interpersonal and collaborative and problem-solving skills

Effective oral and written communication skills

Ability to function independently with or without general supervision

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable): Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.
