PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for serving patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling procedure appointments; maintaining records and accounts; and operating communication systems. Position requires attention to detail, ability to work both independently and within a team, and strong communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple phone lines in a courteous manner. Identify yourself and obtains caller's reason for calling prior to placing call on hold.
Greets patient post office visit in polite, prompt, and helpful manner; verifies and updates patient data, including insurance if necessary.
Schedules procedures as requested; prints patient plan from office appointment if needed, completes prior authorization and requests referral for procedure date. Presents information to patients regarding preparation for procedures, instructions for procedure day; and obtains pre-certifications as required by patients' health care insurers or managed care providers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience: Six (6) months related experience and/or training
Other Skills:
Familiar with community health center setting and committed to serve in such activities
Ability to work with people and work under pressure
Knowledge of NextGen and/or EMR system
Familiar with medical terminology
Knowledge of modern office equipment
Possess excellent customer service, reception, and telephone skills
Must be well organized and a self starter
