PART-TIME PARALEGAL

DEPARTMENT: Prosecuting Attorney - Pre-Trial

HIRING RANGE: $23.71-$26.35/hour based on education and position related experience

BENEFITS OFFERED: No Benefits Offered

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: 29 hours per week, day and hours may vary

LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting the Infraction Deferral Program Coordinator and assisting with the Pretrial Diversion Program. Assist daily vetting for potential participants, preparing applications and other correspondence. Answer phone calls, voicemails and respond to emails from the courts, the public, and attorneys; and provide accurate information regarding services, policies and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 18 months of related education and/or training; Associate Degree and Paralegal training preferred

Knowledge of Elkhart County courts system and operations, including laws and legal terminology, administrative regulations, and official court policies and practices

Ability to apply appropriate procedures to assigned duties

Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to type with speed and accuracy; ability to prepare pleadings, petitions, and related correspondence
