This is a part-time, 8 hour per week, nine-month Nurse Practitioner position.

The duties and responsibilities consist of providing comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of common health problems of students within the guidelines of departmental and university rules, State of Maryland codes, and established protocols.

Emphasis on the prevention of illness, promotion of health, and development of health maintenance.

Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Master's degree in Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner plus current CPR certification.

Current active Maryland Nurse Practitioner license and national certification as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner.

Experience in an ambulatory health care setting and/or in college health is required.

Experience with women's health examinations is also required.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability * CPR/BLS certified * Mastery of medical assessment and diagnosis of physical and psychosocial conditions and treatment of common reoccurring illnesses * Considerable knowledge of standard medical practices and equipment used in diagnosing illnesses * Familiarity with university and departmental policies and procedures * Familiarity with community resources, such as the health department * Appreciation for the philosophy and functioning of an integrated wellness center that includes both health and counseling services * Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills; effective verbal and written communication skills * Enthusiasm and teamwork are desirable traits * Demonstrate experience working with diverse students and staff.

Physical Requirements Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Sedentary work.

Keyboarding, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.

Close visual acuity.

Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Requires physical abilities consistent with a busy office environment on a university campus.

Daily work with computers, monitors, copy machines, and other office equipment.

Should be able to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.

Able to walk/run quickly to all areas on campus in response to an emergency.

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, walking, and occasional lifting of light and heavy objects.

Work is performed in the Wellness Center, with exposure to diseases.

Requires normal range of hearing, vision, touch, and sense of smell.

Essential Functions * Provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of common physical and psychosocial health problems of college students * Provide gynecologic examinations and care to college students * Provide well-defined and specific health care to students and make referrals as necessary * Monitor health care needs and trends of university students * Provide physical and psychosocial examinations of students * Manage common mental health issues, makes referrals as necessary * Prescribe, dispense, or recommend prescriptions for medication and other treatments * Consult with other Wellness professionals and follow through with referrals and appropriate documentation * Provide consultation to and seek consultation from other health care clinicians to enhance quality and cost-effective services for students.

* Follow up with students following medical transports * Perform CLIA-waived testing, i.e., rapid strep, rapid flu, pregnancy testing, etc.

* Order and interpret lab tests; arrange for follow-up treatment and make referrals in accordance with professional judgment * Establish and maintain cooperative and sensitive working relationships with a diverse multicultural student population and college community * Delegates to other staff members appropriately when needed.
