Part-time and/or substitute instructor appointments are made on a semester-by-semester and/or as needed basis.

Positions are not benefit eligible.

The candidate should have the ability to accommodate a flexible working schedule and limited travel within the service area.

Current Vacancies for: PED 110 - Fit & Well for Life (MW 2:00pm-3:15pm, COA - Elizabeth City) HEA 110 - Personal Health & Wellness (MW 2:00pm-3:15pm, COA - Elizabeth City) PED 110 - Fit & Well for Life (F 9:00am-9:50am, COA - Dare) The role of the Instructor, Health and Physical Education (Part-Time) is to provide knowledge in his/her field of expertise and to promote various student-centered learning activities that will stimulate an interest in critical thinking and a desire for life-long learning.

Various teaching strategies, learning styles and delivery methods including new technology systems will be utilized to reach this goal.

The Instructor, Health and Physical Education (Part-Time) is supervised by the Program Coordinator, Health & Physical Education.

* Prepare, teach and evaluate assigned instructional courses in the classroom and/or online.

* Develop supplemental teaching materials as appropriate to augment courses.

* Implement teaching strategies and integrates technology in instructional delivery methods, as appropriate.

* Maintain a conducive and hazard-free learning environment and provides safety and supervision in the classroom/lab.

* Arrive to class early and is prepared.

* Provide students with a syllabus, based on the template provided by the supervisor, which includes instructor contact information and grading policies and adheres to the syllabus.

* Maintain accurate, updated records of students' attendance and performance and keeps students advised of their progress.

* Respond to student emails and/or voicemails in a timely manner.

* Submit all required reports in accurate manner by specified due dates, including attendance and grading reports and supplies requested information/data to the supervisor.

* Use Watermark to provide early alerts for academic or behavioral concerns.

* Understand Title IX regulations as they apply to the college setting and follows proper procedures in reporting concerns or violations.

* Understand FERPA laws and keeps student information and records confidential.

* Inform supervisor if a class must be missed/changed and completes Course Modification forms.

* Adhere to and enforces policies and procedures related to academic area.

* Adhere to assigned teaching load/hours.

* Adhere to all college policies and procedures.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

* Ask supervisor for help with anything that is unclear.

Required: * Master's degree with a concentration in Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science, or related field, or master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science, or related field, from a regionally accredited college or university.

Required: * Knowledge of the community college system and a commitment to COA's mission.

* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

* Ability to use a computer efficiently, especially standard office software.

* Ability to demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
