Jr. High Science Teacher

Duties Responsibilities: * Plans, organizes, and implements Science curriculum appropriate for students in the 7/8th grade * Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines * Designs and presents individual lesson plans using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods * Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates and grades student performance * Monitors students progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for the upcoming grade level; communicates all progress and concerns with professionalism to guardians and, as appropriate, students, other faculty, staff, and/or administrators; builds and maintains positive rapport and communication with guardians * Recognizes and supports diversity and equity in support of school and district initiatives * Enjoy working with a diverse group of students of different socio-economic backgrounds * Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars as required * This position directly reports to the school principal and functionally reports to the other school administrators and district directors * Performs additional related duties within the scope of this position Qualifications Qualifications: * Thorough understanding of pedagogy and the best practices of education with a focus on the Illinois Learning Standards for Science(NGSS). * Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods * Strong supervisory and classroom management skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism * Proficient with Google Suite or related software Salary/Benefits Coaching/Extra-Curricular opportunities may be available.
