Position Description About the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis There are four precincts in Harris County.

The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county's government.

Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.

With approximately 1.17 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles.

Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American, 38 percent Latino, 21 percent Anglo, 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple races.Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County.

The Precinct's territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium.

Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center.

The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston and the University of St.

Thomas.

Precinct One manages more than 21 parks, 10 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

What you will do at Precinct One Harris County- Commissioner Precinct One has an opportunity for a Regional Manager of Right of Way & Trail Maintenance in our Road and Bridge subdivision.

The successful candidate will plan, direct and oversee the operations, workflow and fiscal health of assigned area.

Provide administrative support for the Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent and collaborate with other divisions to ensure the efficient and reliable functioning of the division.

Provide technical and supervisory assistance to workers who perform various manual and semi-skilled tasks related to maintenance and construction on roads, trails, ditches, right of ways and easements, parks and bridges.

Assist Foreman and team with various road maintenance, drainage, and mowing responsibilities on County Road right of aways within Precinct One.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Plan, maintain work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance of people and other resources.

* Assist the Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent of Road & Bridge with the development of annual work plans and annual budgets.

* Work closely with the Foreman to provide guidance and support with employee performance, disciplinary, evaluation, and coaching.

* Monitors supplies and equipment inventory.

Submit re-stock orders.

* Assists with the development of, and participates in training programs for proper use of equipment and tools.

* Prepare and maintain reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department and track strategic goal accomplishments.

* Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.

* Ensures compliance with safety protocols and precinct policies and procedures.

* Reports safety concerns to management and assists with plans to address safety issues.

Reports accidents and injuries to the Superintendent.

Requirements What you will bring to Precinct One Education: * Bachelor's Degree in a related field or industry-related certification from an accredited college or university.

Experience: * Seven (7) years of progressive experience within field of practice * Proficiency in one or more Microsoft software applications to include Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.

Comparable years of experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis Licensure: * Commercial Driver's License Class A or B (State of Texas) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of department industry's best practices * Ability to coach and lead staff, as well as practice good budget management.

* Experience in use of standard office equipment * Skilled at work delegation, assignment of duties, and follow-up.

* Skilled communicator both written and verbal.

* Ability to influence and lead diverse employees and stakeholders.
