RESOURCE PARAEDUCATOR II - 3 HOURS @ PIONEER ELEMENTARY POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position assists a certificated classroom teacher, Resource Room teacher or other staff member(s) with instructional and non-instructional activities for students as indicated by their IEP. Responsibilities include instructional assistance for students, de-escalating and monitoring student behavior, data collection, and preparing classroom materials. Duties may also include clerical work such as typing and duplicating materials, providing basic first aid and personal care assistance, or supervising students on the playground or other school environments. REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION: All classroom Paraeducators in Peninsula School District are required by law to meet ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Paraeducator requirements: 1. Paraeducators must show documentation of high school diploma or equivalent 2. Paraeducators must fulfill one of the three following requirements: a. Completed 72 quarter or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education, OR b. Obtained an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR c. Take and pass the Para Pro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Experience in a school setting and school-aged individuals desirable. The Para Pro Assessment is NOT offered at Peninsula School District. Please contact Employee Support Services, P: or E:, if you have any questions. * Scores must be 455 or above to meet the minimum Washington state standards FUNDAMENTAL COURSE OF STUDY: * FCS training is offered by the district and must be completed as directed by the district. * For additional details of the Washington State Paraeducator training requirements, please click on this link: PESB ADDITIONAL TRAINING: * Must complete training in First Aid and CPR training after employment is offered. * Must complete Right Response training after employment is offered. Right Response training is conducted primarily on weekends as a two-day paid training. REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING WORK: Unless you have been fingerprinted in a school district within the last two years, you will be required to have fingerprinting done.
