Operations Training and Planning Coordinator is responsible for overseeing training and development activities at the power plant.

This includes assessing training needs, designing and developing curriculum, coordinating and delivering training sessions, evaluating program effectiveness, and maintaining accurate training records to ensure personnel are highly skilled, compliant with regulations, and prepared for all operational scenarios.

Training Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough training needs analysis across all departments (Operations, Maintenance, EHS, etc.) to identify skill gaps and areas for improvement.

Collaborate with department managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define specific training requirements based on plant equipment, processes, regulatory changes, and performance metrics.

Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in power generation to proactively address future training needs.

Curriculum Design and Development: Design, develop, and update engaging and effective training materials, including presentations, manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, assessments, and e-learning modules.

Ensure all training content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with plant-specific procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, NERC, EPA). Incorporate various instructional methods, such as classroom instruction, hands-on simulations, on-the-job training (OJT), and virtual learning platforms.

Training Coordination and Delivery: Schedule and coordinate training sessions, including logistics, facility arrangements, and material preparation.

Facilitate and deliver training programs as needed, particularly for core operational and safety topics.

Identify, vet, and coordinate with external trainers or vendors for specialized training requirements.

Manage the plant's Learning Management System (LMS) to assign training, track progress, and generate reports.

Training Effectiveness and Evaluation: Develop and implement methods to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs (e.g., post-training assessments, performance reviews, feedback surveys). Analyze training data and metrics (e.g., completion rates, competency scores, incident reductions) to measure impact and identify areas for continuous improvement.

Provide feedback to trainers, managers, and employees to enhance learning outcomes.

Record Keeping and Compliance: Maintain comprehensive and accurate training records for all employees, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory bodies.

Prepare and submit reports on training activities and compliance status to management and regulatory agencies as required.

Act as the primary point of contact for training-related inquiries during internal and external audits.

Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous learning and development within the power plant.

Assist in the development of career progression paths and associated training plans for plant personnel.

Participate in safety committees and operational meetings to ensure training supports overall plant goals and safety initiatives.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: Safe work practices.

Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.

Principles and procedures of records keeping.

Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.

Direct experience with power plant operations, maintenance, or engineering is highly desirable.

Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS) is required.

Experience in training coordination, instructional design, or a similar role, preferably within a power plant.

Ability to: Demonstrate a strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant training software.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with diverse groups of people.

Problem-solving and analytical skills to identify training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.

Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NERC) relevant to power plant operations.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and a dynamic work environment.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Read and interpret maps, schematics, blueprints and drawings.

Work at high elevations.

Must have use of arms and legs.

Must be able to operate computer terminal and applicable programs.

Properly wear all safety equipment.

Must be able to see and read gauges, trouble lights and control panel screens.

Must be able to recognize and distinguish colors.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Five years' experience in power plant operations, instrumentation, or electrical work.

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering or education.

License or Certification: Employee must possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability as determined by the City's insurance carrier.

Salary: Position will start at the entry level of the City's salary table.

Consideration may be given if experience exceeds entry-level qualifications.

Residency: All Production Division Personnel must live within a 30-minute driving distance of 1035 W.

Wildwood Dr, Grand Island, Nebraska.

The shortest route available on Google maps will be used to determine commute time.

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; hours may vary depending on training schedule.

Other: Must submit a copy of your Bachelor's diploma or transcripts with your application.
