This externship is designed to help you develop essential skills in assisting healthcare providers with patient care, from examinations to treatments, all while adhering to medical regulations and maintaining high standards of patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.

Take patient histories and perform routine lab procedures.

Prepare specimens for laboratory transport.

Follow up on test orders and effectively communicate results to providers and patients.

Provide and maintain patient education materials.

Maintain medical equipment and manage clinical supply inventory.

Accurately create and maintain patient electronic medical records (EMR).

Comply with all OSHA and CLIA regulations to ensure a safe clinical environment.

Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Strong customer service skills and a patient-first attitude.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency in computer skills relevant to healthcare settings, including EMR systems.

Solid understanding of medical terminology.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear interactions with patients and staff.

Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Critical thinking skills to problem-solve and adapt to various clinical situations.
