JOB SUMMARY Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a driven, dynamic and experienced Reading Specialist to be a part of the instructional team at our school.

This candidate will bring a passion for implementing and supporting best instructional practices, a desire to serve all students well, and a commitment to contribute to an already existing positive collaborative school environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Provides push-in reading support for students in classrooms; Teaches pull-out reading classes for a diverse range of students; Implements a range of assessments to identify student needs and prepares individualized plans, specifically in the area of reading instruction; Progress monitors to inform curriculum and instruction and improve student reading levels across all grades; Identifies students who need supplemental reading services; Works with student services staff to schedule services for identified students; Maintains necessary progress reports and records of students accessing services; Regularly reports out to Sizer grade-level teams on student progress in reading; Attends meetings with students, parents/guardians, and teachers when needed; Helps create and support a literacy-rich environment conducive to effective learning for all students; Supports the development of high-quality/effective reading instruction across the curriculum, including collaborating with teachers in the classroom throughout the school day; Designs units of reading instruction with measurable outcomes and engaging tasks; Demonstrates instructional practices that reflect cultural proficiency; Adapts instruction, materials, and assessments to ensure they are accessible to all students, including English learners and students with disabilities; Reflects on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and uses insights gained to improve practice and student learning; Participates in school-wide and subject-specific professional development and in grade-level team meetings; and Other duties as assigned.
