Project Accountant
Strategic Resources, Inc. (SRI) is an international, ISO 9001/20000/27001 Certified, CMMI Level 3 Rated full-service provider with more than 37 years' experience in the Federal, military, and commercial marketplaces. SRI is seeking a remote Project Accountant to join our team.
Overview: The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned projects to ensure profitability and compliance with internal and external requirements. This role plays a critical part in tracking project costs, revenues, and subcontractor invoices from receipt through verification to payment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of working collaboratively with project managers, subcontractors, and the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and track the financial performance of assigned projects, including budgets, actuals, forecasts, and profitability.
Prepare and analyze project cost reports and financial statements to support project managers and senior leadership.
Track subcontractor invoices from receipt through verification, approval, and payment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project setup, billing, and revenue recognition in accordance with company policies and contract terms.
Reconcile project-related transactions and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Assist in month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting.
Maintain organized and auditable project financial records.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices in project accounting.
Provide additional support to the Accounting and Finance operations as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in a government contracting or professional services environment.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and project cost tracking.
Experience with subcontractor invoice processing and payment workflows.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Deltek Costpoint software.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with government contracts and compliance (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management systems.
