We are currently seeking to fill our Animal Care Technician position at the Georgia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.

Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Non-Exempt (Part-Time)

Position Description:

We are currently seeking to fill our Animal Care Technician position at the PCOM Georgia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual. This position is responsible for the daily husbandry care and welfare of lab animal as well as record keeping in compliance with all IACUC guidelines

POSITION SUMMARY

Part Time Position: 20 hours/week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include (but not limited to):

• Responsible for the daily husbandry care and welfare of laboratory animals as well as record keeping in compliance with all IACUC guidelines

• Change rodent cages as scheduled or when needed

• Ensure animals have adequate food and water

• Monitor the health of animals and reporting all abnormalities to the Facility Manager or Veterinarian

• Operate cage washer and autoclave

• Maintain appropriate facility logs, documenting tasks completed

• Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work weekends on a rotating monthly basis. Total of 26 weekends a year

• Must be able to work Holidays as needed

• Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies

• Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching

• Yearly physical examination to detect known allergies to animal fur, dung and dandruff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma

• 1 year of animal and/or related education experience preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.)

• Take initiative to solve unexpected problems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.)

• Lifts supplies/equipment.

• Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies.

• Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.

• Yearly physical examination to detect known allergies to animal fur, dung and dandruff.

Salary Range: $17.20 to $22.75 per hour; this position is limited benefits eligible

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
