Independence Corrugated, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking a Wet End Operator to support our Oak Creek, WI facility. Designated as a wet end leader, you are responsible for the organization, cleanliness and performance of all wet end employees and their workstations. They are responsible for the mining of the machine to keep up with production needs.

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

Read the Wet End run schedule and be able to verify that the next roll spliced, along with the ones laid down, are the correct rolls for the coming paper grades. Also inform operators of any upcoming issues in the schedule.

Know how to get starch to the Single Facer, be able to circulate starch if necessary and be able to send starch back to the starch kitchen for cleanup.

Operate the corrugator according to plant operating culture and principles.

Have correct paper prepped, hung correctly in the splicer and ready to splice in a timely manner.

Make necessary adjustments to roll stands, splicers, and single facer to run a high-quality single face web.

Make sure the machine and work areas are clean. Before the start of the shift inspect the production floor for cleanliness and proper stocking and report findings to current control room operator. Must also make sure areas are clean and properly supplied at shift changeover to ensure the success of the oncoming shift.

Ensure PM functions are performing properly throughout the shift.

Prep butt rolls for return to the roll room.

Anytime the run schedule allows the single facer to be shut down, the Single Face Operator will clean the single facer. There are 2 levels of cleaning, the level of cleaning will be decided by the Control Room Operator based on runtime, available downtime and whether a cartridge change is necessary.

Always work safely, following and enforcing all accepted company safe work practices and guidelines. Through observation and monitoring, make sure all production employees are always working safely.

Provide performance feedback to operators and arrange for training as needed.

When the dry end is the cause for downtime, Single Face Operator is expected to remain on the wet end and use the time to address/prevent issues and get ahead of the game. The goal is to set ourselves up for success once the machine is running again.

Remove all starch from the run tank and fill with water. This water can be used to flush the lines between the SF and the Run Tank.

Regular and predictable attendance.

Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE:

Must be 18 years old.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE:

High School Diploma High School Diploma or GED.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to accurately read a tape measure.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English; able to understand and speak English one-on-one and via hand-held radio.

Must have computer skills.

Corrugated experience, preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Constant standing, talking, walking, hearing, grasping, pushing and pulling; frequent twisting, turning, stooping, bending, squatting; occasional kneeling and frequently climbing stairs; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Production floor; hot temperatures; noisy, uneven surfaces (trolley) mechanical hazards, dust/dirt.
