The PT Accompanist/Vocal Coach will accompany and coach as needed during class times or scheduled student sessions throughout the semester or be hired as a sub to fill in for classes and coachings as needed.
This position is responsible for playing or subbing for an array of courses in the Musical Theater, Commercial Dance, and Acting programs.
This is a pre-determined weekly schedule with flexibility, between 10 - 20 hours with possibility for overtime playing for auditions, recruitment, production and/or substituting for an absent part-time staff course accompanist or coach.
The hires are expected to have 20" coachings per student throughout the week (M-F between 10am - 6pm for majors and Sat/Sun 10-6 for non-majors). Coaching is limited to creating audition cuts, assisting in learning pitches and rhythms for course work, auditions, or production material, and helping select new musical theatre and pop/rock repertoire.
This position is not about teaching voice, technique, or style as there are designated faculty for voice lessons.
We are currently looking for subs to add to our roster, but this position could move into more steady work of 10 - 20 hours a week with the possibility for overtime playing for auditions, recruitment, production and/or substituting for an absent part-time staff course accompanist or coach.
OT is not guaranteed.
Position Duties * Open availability to step in as a sub for the upcoming school year.
* Will work with Program Head of Musical Theater in distribution of duties for course accompany in Musical Theater, Commercial Dance, and Acting.
* Meeting weekly for 20" vocal coachings for the Musical Theater program.
* Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Work Hours Up to 20 hours a week when on a regular schedule.
Subs are not guaranteed work but can work up to 20 hours a week when needed.
* The ability to sightread an array of music from the musical theatre and pop/rock cannon.
* An understanding of the musical theatre field, audition requirements, and knowledge of the current musical theater and pop/rock canon.
* Past work as a musical director or audition accompanist is preferred but not required.
