Position Summary
The Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in building and leading a competitive basketball program that emphasizes athletic excellence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success. The assistant coach plays a vital role in practice planning, player development, and fostering a positive culture within the team.
Qualifications
Prior basketball coaching and/or playing experience (high school, AAU, collegiate, or higher level preferred).
Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and player development techniques.
Effective communication, collaboration, and motivational skills.
Ability to connect with high school student-athletes and foster both athletic and personal growth.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Demonstrated ability to mentor athletes on and off the court
Familiarity with modern technologies (game changer, student tracker, video analysis, conditioning tools, etc.).
Goals & Responsibilities
Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, games, and team activities.
Provide skill instruction and positional training tailored to players' needs.
Support in developing game strategies, scouting opponents, and analyzing performance.
Help with player evaluation during tryouts and throughout the season.
Serve as a role model by promoting discipline, accountability, and sportsmanship.
Support student-athletes' academic and personal growth alongside their athletic development.
Contribute to game-day preparation, including warm-ups, rotations, and bench management.
Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and administrators as directed by the Head Coach.
Assist with program logistics such as equipment, uniforms, and facility usage.
Step into leadership responsibilities if the Head Coach is unavailable.

The Athletic Director or their designee.
Compensation
Compensation will follow the School's assistant coaching stipend schedule.
