Small Engine Mechanic

Apply Job Type Full-time Description SCOPE: Perform functions to repair, rebuild and maintain small engine equipment, such as fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines; and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by maximizing the opportunities for participants with disabilities and other barriers to become more independent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1.

Using hand tools, locates causes of trouble, dismantles engines and examines parts for defects.

2.

Cleans and adjusts carburetor and magneto.

Starts repaired engines and listens to sound to test performance.

3.

Keeps record of inspections, test results, work performed and parts used.

Maintains inventory of equipment.

4.

Provides training of daily maintenance and safety of all equipment.

5.

Ensure actions and words communicate superior internal and external customer service.

6.

Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.

Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.

3.

Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.

4.

Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

Requirements KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 1.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred 2.

Minimum one (1) year relevant experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1.

Regular exposure to extreme temperature.

2.

Regular pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling stooping and bending.

3.

Ability to lift and carry in excess of 30 lbs.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Fractional-horsepower gasoline engines, hand tools and equipment, safety equipment and various grounds maintenance equipment.
