The Histology/Electron Microscopy Technician provides essential diagnostic support by preparing and imaging tissue specimens for ultrastructural analysis.
The technician works with a dynamic team of expert-trained pediatric pathologists, pathology assistants, and histotechnologists to ensure timely, high-quality imaging for accurate diagnostic interpretation.
Core responsibilities include specimen processing, ultrathin sectioning, staining, and operation of the electron microscope, as well as routine preventive maintenance of EM equipment and quality control records.
Our Electron Microscopy service supports pediatric renal pathology, ciliary disorders, and other specialized cases-such as mitochondrial and neuromuscular disorders-with reach extending beyond Rady Children's Hospital to the broader pediatric community across San Diego and beyond.

Diploma, GED or Equivalent Recommendation by Qualified Pathologist General knowledge of a variety of standard tests, techniques, methods and procedures Ability to work independently Knowledge of lab equipment and apparatus PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree 5 years of experience Histotechnologist The current salary range for this position is $33.16 to $45.21 A candidate's placement in the range will be determined based on the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
