Job Summary/Basic Function

The Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations is responsible for independently planning and executing a comprehensive and complex strategy to promote and optimize philanthropic support to SU Athletics from prospects locally and regionally including solicitation of major gifts, annual giving, development of corporate sponsorships and planned giving instruments.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years in higher education and athletics

Job Duties

Description of Job Duties

- Serve as member of the athletics department senior administrative staff; involved with long and short-term planning, development of policies, development of the budget, etc.

- On behalf of the Director of Athletics, develops, facilitates implementation and ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and protocols for all facets of the external operations.

- Manage the Department of Athletics Corporate Partnership Program in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.

- Establish protocol and preparation of written materials for external operations while assuring that best practices are in place and that relevant and innovative messages are developed for diverse demographic and geographic constituents.

- Manage assigned Department of Athletics events and serve as the game administrator for assigned home athletic events, to include promotions, ticket sales and pregame activities.

- Manage and coordinates the external relations for the athletic department, including community engagement, game environment, sponsorships, fundraising and special events.

- Oversee all activities associated with the areas of athletic social media, marketing & promotions,

game day operations, and ticket sales.

- Serve as the primary coordinator for all Athletic special events (Hall of Fame banquet, Golf Tournaments, Athletic Awards Banquet, etc.)

- Coordinate directly with University Foundation with regards to gift processing to ensure procedures are compliant and viable.

- Analyze known and projected requirements to develop a budget for External Operations. Ensure

operations function within the budgetary limitations.

- Serve a significant role in facilitation of the Department of Athletics Booster Club and fundraising by leading in the planning, hosting, and the evaluating of events.

- Ensure compliance with all University, Shepherd University Foundation, NCAA Division II &

Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Rules and Regulations.

- Represent the Director of Athletics on select committees and working groups. Fill in for the Director of Athletics as a senior person on sight when needed.

- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
