This posting may fill more than one vacancy About the Division of Facilities Management and the Division of Youth Services The Division of Facilities Management is a customer-driven support organization responsible for providing facilities management services to all CDHS agencies and offices.

These services include the maintenance of buildings and grounds, custodial, capital construction (budgeting and contract management), utilities management, vehicle fleet management, building space leasing allocation, and facilities planning services.

This is accomplished through a centralized statewide team that is divided into three districts and a central office.

By combining our expert professional extensive facilities knowledge and strong commitment to reliable, responsive service, we enable our clients to achieve consistently high-performance facilities and long-term value.

The facilities managed by the Division of Facilities Management (DFM) include 1,400 acres of land and 349 buildings comprising 3.8 million square feet.

The Division of Youth Services (DYS) provides care for youth committed or detained.

DYS is enhancing their business model to one of a trauma-responsive and therapeutic approach to help youth lead productive lives.

Through expanded opportunities, DYS desires to increase job skills and workforce readiness training for youth in its care.

To accomplish these new workforce opportunities, DYS is now utilizing vocational training programs to expand educational and job readiness opportunities across five DYS sites (Spring Creek, Grand Mesa, Platte Valley, Mount View and Lookout Mountain). This position will provide housekeeping vocational training to youth incarcerated or detained in the Division of Youth Services (DYS) which includes both classroom and hands-on fieldwork.

Training includes the use of custodial equipment and techniques to ensure that the students graduate with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to obtain meaningful employment in the custodial field, once they are released.

Implement and provide vocational training programs Level 1 and level 2 techniques in the area of housekeeping to a group of DYS students.

Training shall be provided on a semester basis and shall result in a certificate of completion of this Vocational Education program.

There is an expectation that this position and program will align with the CMI (Cleaning Management Institute) cleaning program.

This position will also perform custodial work.

Responsibilities in this position include: Instructor: * This position is a qualified instructor of the DYS-DFM Housekeeping Vocational education program.

* Instruct DYS Housekeeping Voc-Ed courses, per the Housekeeping Voc-Ed training curriculum and per the DYS education schedule.

* Actively provides direct class supervision in collaboration with DYS Correctional Youth Security Officers.

* Continually works with the four other DFM Voc-Ed instructors and the DYS Educational department to improve the provision of training on an ongoing basis.

* Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques including lecture, hands on, theory and field housekeeping practices.

* Lead in educational and instructional activities.

* Grade and evaluate student tests/exams.

* Provides course materials to students.

* This position will set priorities to deliver results within designated time frames.

* Oversees the job and academic performance, to include behavior of students enrolled in the vocational training program.

Classroom Management: * Provides safe and respectful learning environment * Engages students in learning process * Encourages student participation * Provides opportunities for student dialogue and interaction * Uses scheduled class time effectively * Ensures accurate student attendance and achievement records are required * Ensures opportunities for student participation, collaboration with peers, and course evaluation * Enhances learning and reduces incidents of distractions or interruptions to learning (e.g.

side-bar conversations, cell phone use, absenteeism, etc.) * Ensures accurate student attendance and achievement documentation as required with appropriate instructor signatures.

* Organizes presentations to provide structure and learning that takes place in large or small groups * Assesses and documents on any participants who are failing the return demonstration skills to determine how and why and then notifies the DYS Education Director * Notifies the DYS site director and education principal at the time of any injuries that may have resulted from participation during training.

Completes injured on duty (IOJ) documentation and submits to the DYS site director for follow-up Use of Technology: * Teaches instructors the use of data projectors/laptops, DVD, and other A/V equipment in providing: * Education and training * Effectively sets up, uses, and troubleshoots a wide variety of educational technical equipment that includes laptops, data projectors, portable hard drives, USB drives, video cameras, sound systems, and programs requiring webcams/webinars * Tracking and reporting of all educational elements as well as student attendance to the DYS site principal * Acquiring skills to assist in updating the DYS Housekeeping Vocational Education curriculum * Utilizes videos, training manuals and tests to provide classroom training.

Maintains student files, daily progress notes special incidents, and provides grade reports when due.

* Prepares the pre-established program curriculum.

Instructs youth on custodial tasks by reviewing information in textbooks and watching and discussing custodial videos, etc.

Administers written and practical exams and tests.

* Evaluates performance of students, grades tests, and maintains training records.

Prepares competency checklist for certificate of completion, which lists mastery of identified skills Classroom Preparation: * Ensures proper equipment is available at the time of instruction * Ensures proper training materials and adequate volume of materials are available in the classroom * Ensures that the instructors assigned for the class are present, and if not, notifies the DYS site Director of their absence so accommodations can be made * Meets with site principal thirty minutes before the start of class to make training assignments and discuss any outstanding issues * Reports to the DYS Director of Education any training equipment needs * Ensures that all training spaces and training equipment are cleaned at the end of class according to infection control policy and properly stored in defined locations.

* Anticipates and identifies potential safety and security problems and reports problems to the proper DYC authority.

Provides oversight, and evaluation of youth to assure the safety and security of property and staff.

Recognizes safety hazards.

Ensures that custodial equipment is properly utilized and maintained.

* Enforces safety procedures to reduce or prevent the risk of slips, trips, falls, etc.

* Inventories tools and equipment according to facility procedures to prevent loss.

* Follows facility key procedures and ensures that doors are kept locked to prevent escapes.

* Ensures SDS sheets are up-to-date and chemicals are stored and used properly.

* Trains youth on fire evacuation procedures Collaboration * Attends DYS education department meetings to plan, discuss issues affecting training * Evaluates the curriculum, contributes to modifications to better meet the needs of the DYS Voc-Ed program * Performs special cleaning projects within the facility by moving furniture, stripping and refinishing floors, shampooing carpeting, sanitizing restrooms, wall washing and emergency spill clean-ups.

* Plans schedules and coordinates custodial training projects to assure appropriate sanitations and custodial maintenance functions are regularly performed throughout the facility.

* Coordinates training hours, work schedules and class content with Voc ed manager and DYC site staff * Submit reports to the agency education director, assistant director, school principal, direct supervisor and vocational education manager regarding any student problem prior to action being taken.

* Responsible for the physical count of the tools and chemical inventory at least once a month.

* Requisitions cleaning supplies at least once a month.

Inspects supplies for accurate quantity and condition upon arrival.

Signs requisitions and submits them to the housekeeping manager.

* Accounts for all custodial equipment used after each shift Additional Duties * Performs custodial work that relates to the general upkeep and sanitation of the area assigned.

* Schedules and performs project work * All other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Experience Only: Applicants must have 5 years of experience as a trainer in the field of housekeeping, janitorial, custodial or environmental services.

This training experience must have included providing classroom instruction, assessments and on the job training that demonstrated how to use tools, equipment, etc.

This experience must be included and detailed in the work experience section of your job application to move forward in the selection process.

OR Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or experience as it relates to this position equal to five (5) years.

Preferred Qualifications: * Experience providing hands-on vocational training to incarcerated or detained juveniles in secure environments.

* Extensive experience in the housekeeping, janitorial, custodial or environmental services field.

* Bachelor's Degree in a field that relates to this position.

* Certificates as they relate to this position.

Required Competencies: * Ability to work directly with incarcerated or detained juveniles in secure environments.

* Excellent communication skills to clearly explain concepts and tasks to students.

* Organizational skills - must coordinate time, teaching materials, and student work.

* Patience.

Working with students of different abilities and backgrounds can be difficult.

Must be even-tempered with students to develop a positive learning environment.

* Resourcefulness and Adaptability.

Must be able to create different ways of presenting information and demonstrating tasks so that all students learn the material.

* Technology savvy.

Have a deep understanding of modern technology, especially computers, office equipment, MS Office and Google applications, and the skills to use them effectively.

* Knowledge and Expertise in the field of housekeeping, janitorial, custodial or environmental services.

* Engaging Delivery.

An effective trainer should be able to engage learners and maintain their interest throughout the training program.

* Assessment and Feedback.

Implement assessments that accurately measure the learners' understanding of the material and be able to provide feedback.

Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hours per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.

* Must possess and maintain a valid non-restricted Colorado Driver's License * This position must be able to learn the DYS Housekeeping Voc Ed curriculum.

* This position must be able to directly train youth housed in the Division of Youth Services the Housekeeping Voc Ed curriculum.

* Must successfully complete the Division of Youth Services training academy.

* Travel - This position will be required to drive State Vehicles as part of daily work assignment from site to site equipped with tools to perform daily duties.

May be required to travel to training and meetings.

* Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.

* Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.

* Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials.

Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must: * Disclose that information on the application.
