This newly recruited neurosurgeon will expand our current services at UAB Medical West Hospital, 5000 Medical West Way in Bessemer, Alabama.
The newly recruited neurosurgeon will join long-standing Department faculty member Dr.
M.
Renee Chambers (Professor) at UAB Medical West Hospital to focus on general neurosurgery and will take the required minimum neurosurgical call at this location of 10 days/month.
The position will spend 2-2 days per week in the O.R.
and 2-2 days per week in clinic doing general community-level neurosurgery.
Upon request, the position may include occasional work for complex cases at the University of Alabama University Hospital if operating rooms and beds are available, however, to be clear, this position's primary location and responsibility is UAB Medical West Hospital.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in joining an existing community general neurosurgery practice in a community hospital environment and expanding our department's practice in the attractive, newly constructed UAB Medical West Hospital facility.
The ideal candidate will also have a desire to interact with resident education at the main campus through resident teaching conferences and education.
Currently, there are no resident rotations at UAB Medical West Hospital.

Required Qualifications MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree.
BC/BE in Neurosurgery.
Eligible for licensure in the state of Alabama.
Preferred Qualifications Desirable candidates want to practice in a community hospital setting and expand our current footprint at UAB Medical West Hospital.
