This position provides comprehensive academic advising, career counseling, and tutoring support to eligible students through the federally funded TRIO Student Support Services program.

The primary purpose is to help students prepare for, enter, and successfully complete their college education.

This role may require occasional evening and Saturday hours to best meet student needs.

Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to * Academic Advising: manage a caseload of 30-50 SSS students (65%) * Provide a full range of academic advising services for students on Main Campus and Online * Monitor student performance * Monitor graduation requirements of SSS students * Maintain student records * Consult with faculty on student progress and needs; serve as student advocate in appropriate instances * Provide transfer information to students * Provide individualized career advising to students * Provide financial aid, financial literacy, and scholarship information to students * Tutoring & Study Skills Instruction (15%) * Provide a variety of tutoring services to SSS students * Ability to tutor algebra and statistics is preferred * Formerly and informally audit courses as needed to tutor students * Coordinate, develop, and present student academic activities and workshops * Maintain any online tutoring presence or programs offered by SSS * Oversee functions of the physical and online learning labs (15%) * Recruit and advertise for student workers * Make recommendations for hiring part time staff to the TRIO Director * Make recommendations for scheduling part time staff to the TRIO Director * Create and implement annual tutor/mentor training * Oversee physical lab environment ensuring it is a welcoming and productive space for SSS Students * Determine student eligibility and need for tutoring * Maintain functioning of computers and other technology in the learning lab, collaborating with other departments as needed * Maintain inventories of items, equipment, and reference materials * Arrange and implement online tutoring, as needed * Assist with the following (5%) * Preparation of SSS grant application and annual performance report * Monitoring and reporting on SSS benchmarks and other statistical data * Tracking the matriculation of SSS students after NCMC * Presentation and logistics of other workshops and events as needed * Additional expectations * Participate in a variety of College activities to develop and maintain educational programs for students * Serve as a liaison between Student Support Services and all other components of North Central Missouri College * Comply with the guidelines required by the US Department of Education in reporting of grant activities * Work independently without close supervision, attend required meetings and complete other duties as assigned Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Master's degree preferred in education, social work, or related field.

Experience: Prefer two years' experience in an educational/office setting performing similar duties required; experience with high school or adult education; human services; familiarity with current trends in career development and higher education.

Skills: Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with students under stress; ability to work independently without close supervision; MS Office including spreadsheet and database experience; flexible and adaptable in coordinating and prioritizing duties; demonstrated sensitivity to, respect for and understanding the needs of disadvantaged students.

Physical Demands: Moving about between buildings on the NCMC campus; reaching, pulling, and pushing when filing; able to do repetitive tasks; remain stationary at a desk while typing and answering phones.

Environmental Demands: Fluctuations while moving on tile and carpeted floors in a heated and air conditioned environment.
