This is an Adjunct (part time) instructor position teaching one or more courses in the Construction Program for Curriculum and Workforce Continuing Education.

Central Carolina Community College is seeking experienced and passionate instructors of in the Construction field to join our instructional pool.

Instructors will develop, deliver, and assess hands-on training in general building construction concepts, materials, and techniques including but not limited to residential and commercial new construction; as well as construction skills and related topics such as site maintenance, safety practices, and tool usage in compliance with industry standards.

Authorized OSHA trainer and knowledge in the fields of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and equipment repair are Preferred.

Course may be taught in traditional and hybrid formats.

* Ability to teach in any college service area county; Chatham, Lee, Harnett * Ability to teach varied/flexible schedule within WCE Terms; Spring (Jan.

1 - May 15), Summer (May 16 - Aug.

14), Fall (Aug.

15 - Dec.31) * Ability to teach daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes.

* This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training.

Occasional after hours may be required.

* This position requires face to face teaching.

Ideal candidates are subject matter experts capable of teaching courses such as Residential and Commercial Construction, Carpentry, Electrical Wiring, HVAC, Masonry, OSHA Safety, and Industry-related Employability Skills.

Instructors will empower students to succeed in skilled trades careers through engaging lectures, hands-on labs, work-based and/or apprenticeship experiences and a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and certification preparation.

Adjunct faculty are required to attend department meetings, participate in professional development related to classroom instruction and pedagogy, and maintain any required certifications and eligibility to teach related subjects.

Essential Duties * Develop course curriculum, detailed training plans, and schedules in collaboration with the program director and/or industry partners for subject areas of instruction * Provide classroom, hands-on lab instruction in construction and building maintenance skills and related topics * Assess student learning through class participation, hands-on demonstrations, and competency evaluations * Employ a variety of teaching strategies and adapt instruction to meet a diverse student population of youth and adult learners from various socioeconomic backgrounds, including justice-involved individuals * Teach basic principles, equipment operation, and safety protocols aligned with industry standards * Prepare course materials, deliver lectures, facilitate lab sessions, and lead practical activities on campus and/or work sites * Coordinate and monitor the progress and quality of work site experience * Maintain accurate attendance records and submit timely course documentation * Implement and accurately maintain a system to track student progress and assess their skills and abilities * Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment * Communicate effectively with students, staff, and program leadership * Stay updated on industry developments and standards, and incorporate best practices into training * Maintain certification and credentials required for teaching specific subjects or industry certification exam preparation * Collaborate with the continuing education team to support promotional efforts as needed * Abide by college-wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct * Adhere to the scheduled time of class/lab * Develop a course syllabus that is in keeping with program and college policies * Ensure that program specific evaluation methods are administered and completed in a consistent and equitable manner * Assure that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assess the established course objectives * Monitor student performance on a regular basis and provide feedback within a reasonable timeframe to students * Recognizing and respecting the variety of experiences and contributions represented by all of our students, employees, and community, the Construction Skills Instructor, Adjunct will encourage a learning environment where everyone is supported and valued for their unique perspectives and experiences and will foster and promote the participation of all members of our diverse communities.

Minimum Requirements Required educational background: * High School Diploma Required kind and number years of work experience: * 10 years professional industry experience (& HS Diploma) Or, * 5 years professional industry experience (& Associate's Degree in related field) Required knowledge, skills and abilities: * Positive attitude * Professional related-industry experience (On-the-job trainer is a plus) * Experience working with non-traditional and diverse youth and/or adult populations * Knowledge of the principles and practices of adult education (i.e., learning styles, classroom management techniques, etc.) * Knowledge of instructional planning and teaching methods; skill in the use of assessment instruments * Ability to develop appropriate educational goals and objectives * Ability to establish and maintain an effective learning environment * Proficient computer skills * Effective written and verbal communication skills Required license or certificate: * Valid NC Driver's License * Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment) (must be maintained) * OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry Certification or OSHA (10/30) Instructor Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment) (must be maintained)
