Provides primary healthcare services for patients and families, focusing on wellness and health promotion. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

Provide comprehensive primary care within the regulatory guidelines set by the State of California and Rural health Clinic Code of Federal Regulations including performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and prescribing and minister medical treatments and medication; collaborate/supervise with the nurse practitioner/physician assistant in order to plan and coordinate patient care

Determine routine medical orders

Participate in the development, execution and annual review of the written policies/procedures covering the services provided; participate in annual review of patient health records and utilization review studies of the Clinic services

Maintain confidentiality of PHI and ensure patient's right to privacy

Obtain a health history and access the stated health of the patient in order to determine health care needs and document findings in the medical record

Orient, evaluate and provide supervision/collaboration of the physician assistant/nurse practitioner

Perform complete screening examinations and routine examinations that reflect the nature of the patient visit, supports the diagnosis and plan and promotes good health

Order, perform and interpret routine laboratory tests; notify patients of results as appropriate

Assess information and/or symptoms of patient by phone and prescribing treatment or referral to other appropriate resources if indicated

Consult and instruct patients regarding care to facilitate recovery and promote patient self-care at home. Encourage wellness and restoration through continued follow-up care

Refer patients for specialized care, evaluation and diagnostics based upon identified need

Maintain a system for accurately recording and reporting patient conditions in the medical records; assure medical records are transferred as required when patients are referred; participate in an annual review for quality completeness

Is present in the Clinic at least once every two (2) weeks

Minimum Required:

At least one year experience in General Medicine

Education:

Graduate of an approved medical school Completed internship and/or residency Demonstrated insurability for professional liability

Licensed as a physician in the state of California

Special Skills:

Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to make quality independent decisions
