Work Shift: Day Shift Time Type: Full time Department: CC014190 Heart Station - Little Rock Summary: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Fetal Scans Only No Call for this position No Weekends or Holidays The Fetal Cardiac Sonographer independently performs quality fetal echocardiograms, capturing necessary diagnostic imaging while working closely with interpreting fetal cardiologists.

The fetal cardiac sonographer is required to perform imaging on Arkansas Children's campuses, regional clinic settings, UAMS NICU and/or Labor and Delivery, and high-risk obstetric settings.

While the fetal cardiac sonographer is largely focused on fetal cardiac studies, this sonographer must also be competent in performing pediatric and adult echocardiograms and will provide coverage as needed in these areas.

This position may include call.

Additional Information: * Full Time * Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm * Fetal Scans Only * No Call for this position * No Weekends or Holidays Required Education: Direct_Graduate of a CAAP Acrcredited Cardiac sonography program or 1 year equivelent experience in Cardiac Unltrsound Recommended Education: Required Work Experience: Direct - 2 years Sonography Recommended Work Experience: Required Certifications: 1 of the following certifications is required -, BLS for Healthcare Providers - AHA - American Heart Association Recommended Certifications: RDCS, FEc, PE, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Description 1.

Performs high quality diagnostic fetal cardiac sonography examinations for interpretation by a fetal cardiologist.

Determines proper techniques and positioning to ensure optimal results in accordance with all applicable standards, protocols and procedures.

Is able to image congenital heart disease in a way that reflects understanding of the salient features and physiology of the diagnosis.

Has an advanced understanding of the echocardiographic imaging approach to complex congenital heart disease as related to fetal sonography.

Provides family centered care and consistently displays therapeutic communication.

Contributes and/or participates in research projects in the fetal echo department.

Plays an important role in fetal sonography education for cardiology fellows and cardiac sonographer mentees.

Attends monthly fetal conference and is a productive member of the fetal sonography team.

May perform diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations on patients across the spectrum of congenital and acquired heart disease for interpretation by cardiologist.

Performs or assists with transesophageal, transthoracic and advanced echocardiography as required and per training and expertise.

Must regularly demonstrate mastery of one or more advanced echo modalities including but not limited to: fetal, 3D, strain imaging, contrast (Difinity, Lumason), cardiac stress test etc.

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of complex congenital heart disease anatomy, physiology and associated surgeries.

Creates a detailed report of sonographer's impressions to include pertinent positive and negative anatomic findings and measurements for presentation to interpreting physician.

This report includes exam aspects outside sonogram results that may relate to diagnosis or treatment, including but not limited to patients clinic condition (unstable, stable, ECMO, ongoing resuscitation, patient reaction to the study, ability to respond to instructions, movement limitations). Report is clear, concise and grammatically correct.

Salient features of the study are noted in the report summary.

Assures studies are appropriately transferred to electronic archives, tracked and billed.

Takes steps to quickly remedy identified errors and omissions utilizing the chain of command as necessary.

Serves as a preceptor and mentor to developing sonographers, orientees, and students.

Participates as an educator in Arkansas Children's Annual Outside Sonographer Symposium.

Continually pursues knowledge and self-improvement through self-directed learning by studying appropriate texts, journal articles, online resources and attends weekly education conferences as scheduling allows.

Attends staff meetings, participates in additional educational offerings and off-site conferences/seminars, and participates in research efforts.

Responsible for obtaining required CMEs for ARDMS or CCI, and 15 CMEs being pediatric echo-related for the IAC during a required 3-year period for the IAC.

Identifies and troubleshoots equipment malfunction to ensure continuous proper and safe operations.

Promptly reports service needs and preventive maintenance issues to appropriate persons.

Participates in cleaning, re-stocking, and turnover of cardiodiagnostic exam rooms and equipment to provide efficient, effective, and safe department operations.
