The Student Tech - Psychology will provide support and assistance to the Psychology Department and/or individual faculty members in the areas of research, scholarship or promotion of the department.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: assisting with administrative work related to communicating with internal and external constituencies to promote enrollment and participation in Psychology Department events; may assist with maintaining the departmental brochure, website, blog, social media sites; will assist with publicizing departmental events; and will assist with recruitment activities, including communicating with prospective students and families and attending Open House and other recruitment activities.

Student Tech responsibilities may also include: supporting a faculty member in the areas of scholarship (research, grant writing, professional presentations) and service (committee work, service to professional organizations, continuing education opportunities); working under the direction of the faculty member; including research data collection, tutoring, organizing study sessions, as well as clerical and administrative duties such as copying, filing, organizing, scheduling, drafting correspondence, internet searches, maintaining databases to support research and/or teaching activities.

Education/Experience Currently enrolled Stevenson University student in good standing with the University academically and judicially.

Current Psychology Major with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability Knowledge of and ability to use Social Media sites (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publications) and with Internet searches.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Products (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) Ability to multitask, pay strict attention to detail, and meet deadlines Self-motivated, and ability to take the lead with technical projects Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others Ability to work with SU faculty, administrators, and peers Ability to interact with external audiences, such as potential new students or researchers at other institutions Flexible and able to work independently, and as part of a team Ability to problem solve and make decisions about how to meet the individual needs of faculty or students Excellent time management skills with high level of organization and ability to attend to detail and meet deadlines.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

Openness to supervision and responsive to corrective feedback.

Ability to assist in social science laboratory or field research as needed by assigned faculty supervisor Ability to assist other students with laboratory and/or writing assignments through tutoring, supplemental instruction, and/or review of and provide feedback on student papers or classroom exercises Ability to interact with external audiences, such as potential new students or researchers at other institutions Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed Physical Requirements Medium work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Requires physical abilities consistent with a busy college environment on a campus with buildings separated by some distance.

Position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing and walking.

Daily work with computers, monitors, copy machines, and other office equipment is required.

Essential Functions Assist with maintaining, monitoring and updating the department website, blog, and social media sites including research postings and blog Assist with coordination of details for departmental-specific programs, special events, departmental meetings and seminars, etc.

Assist with setting up, coordination, and marketing/publicizing departmental events Assist with maintaining, updating, and distributing the departmental brochure and other department publications Assist with communications for prospective students and their family members Attend Open House and other recruitment activities Assist students and faculty with poster printing Work cooperatively with other student workers Assist in social science laboratory or field research by assigned faculty supervisor Assist other students with laboratory and/or writing assignments through tutoring, supplemental instruction, and/or review of student papers or classroom exercises.

Create practice exercises and/or draft research protocols and documents such as IRB forms tailored to the needs of students and faculty.

Gather and compile data in order to generate reports as required to support teaching or research activities Create and manage databases used to monitor and document research, teaching, or administrative activities Conduct research and benchmark initiatives (internal and external) with similar proposed outcomes Assist with composing, compiling and type memos, letters, emails, reports, policies and procedures, etc.
