This position is for candidates who hold a bachelor's degree and not a valid WA STATE Teaching License.

Emergency Certificated Substitute Teacher Here is some information that is frequently requested: * As a substitute, you will earn $200 per 7.5-hour day.

(Half days and early release days are paid at a prorated rate.) * We require that you possess a BA or BS degree in order to apply.

* You will be required to have a fingerprint/background check that costs $83 unless you have a current one from a Washington school district.

* Part of the process will require you to obtain your Emergency Substitute Teaching Certificate.

This process will be completed online and will cost you $63.

Here is the process: Step 1: Once your Bremerton School District application is completed, we will contact you to come in for an interview in HR.

We will begin your paperwork process for HR and Payroll.

Step 2: When your interview is completed and you have been approved for hire as an Emergency Certificated Substitute, our office will help you start the process to get your certificate.

Step 3: When OSPI has processed and issued your certificate, you will be ready to start working as a substitute!

JOB DESCRIPTION - TEACHER GENERAL DESCRIPTION The classroom teacher will work collaboratively with other building staff members to develop and motivate each student toward an awareness and understanding of the subject matter and/or skills needed to develop into mature, well-rounded, responsible young adults.

The teacher will establish positive rapport with students and will encourage them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for future success.

Reports to and evaluated by: Building Principal or Designee RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide an optimum learning environment for all students * Participate in, contribute to, and be supportive of group decisions and efforts * Collaborate with staff and work in teams to provide instruction to students * Employ a systematic instructional process designed to meet the needs of students in the classroom * Engage in purposeful, deliberate planning for instruction * Follow District and State guidelines for essential learning and instructional strategies * Work cooperatively with administration and staff in problem-solving and group process activities * Model lifelong learning, positive self-esteem, and respect for others * Set and maintain high personal, professional, and instructional standards for self and students * Adhere to Washington Code of Professional Conduct * Perform other related duties as required or requested QUALIFICATIONS We want our instructors to be: * Committed to the concept that all students can learn * Committed to continuous progress and developmentally appropriate practices * Open-minded and flexible * Willing to change and grow * Skilled in relating well to students, parents, staff, and community * Well-versed in subject matter content * Sensitive to and skilled in working with a diverse population Must possess: * Genuine desire to work with all students * Evidence of successful experience in working as instructor or specialist, with students at appropriate grade level and in subject area * Strong classroom management skills * Current Washington State Teaching Certificate * Endorsement in or major or minor in the specific discipline * Knowledge of child growth and development needs
