Job Title: Registered Nurse

Experience: Minimum of 2 years Pediatric experience

License: Current State license as a Registered Nurse required

Certifications: BLS, PALS certification within two years of performing RN duties

Must-Have:

Active RN license

Minimum of 2 years Pediatric experience

Understanding of patient care principles

Description:

The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit.

This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of the patient population served.

Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory that can typically be acquired by graduating from an accredited School of Nursing.

Work requires two to three months unit-specific orientation and on-the-job training to learn department policies and procedures, work routines, and gain proficiency in medical equipment used on the unit.

The incumbent will also learn nursing care and quality assurance standards and gain an understanding of the types of patients cared for on the unit, their needs, and effective nursing interventions.

Interpersonal skills are necessary to comfort patients, family members, and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other patient care providers; and to instruct patients and families in self-care procedures.

Analytical ability is required to assess patients' physical, psychological, and social needs, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patients' responses to medical and nursing interventions.
