Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

License: Current State license as a Registered Nurse required
Certifications: BLS, PALS (must achieve PALS certification within two years of performing RN duties)
Must-Have: Knowledge of the principles of growth and development relevant to pediatric patients, strong interpersonal skills, analytical ability for patient assessment, and effective communication skills.
Description:
The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.
Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory that can generally be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Work requires two to three months of unit-specific training to learn department policies, procedures, and work routines.
This includes proficiency in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in the assigned unit.
The nurse will learn nursing care and quality assurance standards, and gain an understanding of the types of patients cared for on the unit, their needs, and effective nursing interventions.
Work requires interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members, and/or significant others.
Effective and concise communication with other patient care providers is essential.
Instructing patients, family members, and/or significant others in self-care and home care procedures is also required.
Work requires analytical ability necessary to assess patients' physical, psychological, and social needs.
The nurse will develop individualized patient plans of care and evaluate patients' responses to medical and nursing interventions.
