Position Details Position Information Position Title Assistant Dean of Student Affairs; OPCVM Department CVM Student Services Position Category Staff Full Time Job Description The Assistant Dean of Student Affairs will develop and direct student academic support initiatives, evaluate their effectiveness, and report on outcomes.
This role involves collaborating with the Dean of Academic Affairs, outcomes assessment, exam services, and Academic Support and counseling departments to create individualized student success plans and implement new initiatives.
The ADSA will work with faculty to develop and deliver classes, workshops, and seminars aimed at NAVLE success in both preclinical and clinical years.
Additionally, the Dean will promote research, excellence, and innovation in teaching practices and student success.
Responsibilities also include overseeing student services programs such as policy compliance, health insurance, mental health, recruitment, advising, financial aid, and organizing special events like orientation, graduation and white coat ceremonies.
Academic rank upon hire will be determined by University policies administered by the LMU Office of Academic Affairs.
Required Qualifications Experience advising pre-professional or professional students Experience in an academic setting Advanced degree in education The ADSA should possess knowledge of the field of veterinary medicine as well as an understanding of evidence-based practices for comprehensive support of student success, both personal and academic.
This role requires organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal, and speaking skills that facilitate interactions with a diverse constituency of administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

Job Duty Provide individualized support and coaching to students to help them develop their professional identities, communication skills, and practice management abilities.
Job Duty Serve as a resource for students seeking guidance on ethical dilemmas, communications challenges, professional conduct, and practice management issues Job Duty Continually measure progress of individual students and collective CVM classes from admittance through graduation Job Duty Oversee the early intervention policy for students at risk in the curriculum Job Duty Industry Engagement: Foster relationships with veterinary practices and industry partners to ensure that the program meets the needs of the profession.
Maintain and administer policies related to industry and clinical engagement with students Job Duty Collaborate with leaders of university and college departments including but not limited to Dean s Executive Committee, admissions and student services, academic excellence and university-level student services like financial aid, counseling, accessible education Job Duty Ensure compliance with the standards and guidelines of accrediting bodies such as SACS and AVMA Job Duty Participate in departmental and university committees and activities.
Job Duty Research and Scholarly Activity: Develop an area of scholarship that enhances teaching and generates new knowledge.
Collaborate with other faculty members on interdisciplinary research projects and grant applications.
Job Duty Perform other duties as assigned.
