Introduction Anticipated openings for the\n2025-2026 School Year.\n\n\nMaryland School for the\nDeaf (MSD) is a diverse, bilingual community who in partnership with families,\nprovides an equitable and exemplary education in a nurturing, engaging, and\nchallenging environment to ensure our students achieve personal excellence and\nbecome lifelong learners.As such, we are looking for dedicated\nindividuals who can join us in the education of the children at MSD.\n LOCATION OF POSITION MSD, Columbia Campus, 8169 Old Montgomery Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043\n Main Purpose of Job To develop and implement a bilingual educational program for Deaf students in a language accessible environment as well as provide an enriched bicultural environment conducive to the development of the optimal social and emotional growth of Deaf students.

To provide a language enriched environment through use of sign language and printed word to meet the varied needs of Deaf students.\n POSITION DUTIES Assess and teach Deaf students including the implementation of\nMaryland's state standards and the development of IEPs.

Create and maintain a\nclassroom conducive to learning.

Prepare and maintain weekly solid lesson\nplans based on student assessments and data, and teach lessons using the best\npractices of bilingual pedagogy and differentiated instruction.

Design\nand make materials to facilitate student learning.

Collect data and\nfollow individualized planning.

Develop IEPs and write quarterly progress\nreports; apply IEP accommodations and supplementary aids in teaching and\nassessments.

Maintain a grade book, portfolios, unit plans, daily\nattendance, and emergency classroom lesson plans.

Utilize effective classroom\nmanagement for optimal learning including managing student behavior; model\nappropriate behavior and promote self-control.\n MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree required.\n\n\nCandidates must be eligible\nto apply for or be willing to obtain certification by the Maryland State\nDepartment of Education within a prescribed amount of time.

Fluency in\nAmerican Sign Language and written English required.

Knowledge of the\nDeaf culture, Deaf Education, students with additional disabilities and ability\nto teach students on different levels and with varying educational and language\nacquisition backgrounds is required.\n DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in Education or Special Education of Deaf students,\nMaryland State Department of Education Certification\n SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS New hires are subject to\na criminal background investigation at their own expense.

As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.

The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.

You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\n\n FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS Online application\nprocess is STRONGLY preferred.
