DESCRIPTION:
Port Angeles High School is seeking an Assistant Coach for its newly sanctioned Girls Flag Football program, beginning in the 2025-26 school year. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in all phases of the varsity-only program, which is sanctioned under WIAA and governed by NFHS rules. The assistant will help plan and lead practices, supervise athletes, reinforce team expectations, and assist with game day operations, communication, and travel. In the absence of the head coach, the assistant will be expected to assume full coaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will model positive behavior, promote sportsmanship, and work collaboratively with students, staff, and families to ensure a high-quality athletic experience for all team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience coaching football, flag football, or another team sport at the high school or middle school level preferred
Recent playing experience may substitute for coaching experience
Familiarity with or willingness to learn and follow NFHS rules for Girls Flag Football
Must prioritize sportsmanship, work ethic, consistency, and effective communication with players, staff, and the community
Ability to build strong relationships with student-athletes and teach fundamental skills and strategies
Must display enthusiasm, professionalism, integrity, and loyalty
Ability to uphold and support the program's standards and expectations, including PAHS athletic and behavior guidelines
Must maintain confidentiality in all matters involving students, families, and staff
Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain prior to the season
Must meet WIAA coaching certification requirements or be willing to complete them
Must be at least 21 years of age
