School/College School of Medicine Title Heersink School of Medicine-Open Rank-Pediatric Hematology and Oncology-Clinical Psychologist Assignment Category Full-Time Rank Open Rank Tenure Status Open Tenure Payroll Status Faculty 12 Job Description The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) and the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation is seeking applicants for a pediatric psychologist to join our team.

The position carries appointments in the Department of Pediatrics at UAB HSOM, with faculty line and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Clinical responsibilities will include the provision of evidence-based psychological intervention services such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, and behavioral interventions to support patient coping and adjustment as well as treatment adherence.

Integration into our multidisciplinary teams will be a central part of the position, including participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and rounds, and collaboration and coordination of care within the medical setting.

Clinical populations served include infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and other hematological disorders, with a particular emphasis on supporting patients in our Sickle Cell Disease Clinic.

The psychologist will also work closely with the division's pediatric psychologist/neuropsychologists, educational specialists, and the interdisciplinary psychosocial support team in the Hope and Cope Psychosocial Education Program.

Opportunities to supervise psychology trainees within our APA-Accredited PhD doctoral program and internship, support psychosocial program development, and participate in clinical research are also encouraged.
