Position Summary: Registered radiological technologist skilled in radiographic and angiographic imaging principals and techniques.

Is responsible for routine care and maintenance of radiological equipment and monitors radiation safety for both patients and staff.

Assist Cardiologist / Electrophysiologist with procedures - Left and Right Heart Catheterizations, Interventional procedures, Balloon Pumps, Impellas, ECMO, Pacemakers, ICD and Electrophysiology Studies / Ablations.

Assists Cardiologist with diagnostic and interventional procedures.

a.Utilizes aseptic/sterile technique for patient and table preparation, assuring all medications and supplies are within expiration date and labeled appropriately per policy.

b.

Demonstrates advanced knowledge of cardiac catheterization, device implants, and vascular inventory.

c.

Demonstrates ability to trouble shoot equipment problems.

d.

Demonstrates ability to operate various laboratory equipment including the Angiojet, IVUS, IABP, TD100 pressure injection, FFR, etc.

a.

Utilizes aseptic/sterile technique for patient and table preparation, assuring all medications and supplies are within expiration date and labeled appropriately per policy.

b.

Demonstrates advanced knowledge of cardiac catheterization, device implants, and vascular inventory.

c.

Demonstrates ability to trouble shoot equipment problems d.

Demonstrates ability to operate various laboratory equipment including the Angiojet, IVUS, IABP, TD100 pressure injection, FFR, etc.

Assists with transport of patient, room setup and turn around.

a.

Assures all patients' demographics are correctly entered in the Philips X-Ray MacLab, and Xcelera viewing stations.

b.

When scheduling patients, assures all data is entered correctly and appropriate.

c.

Works with the rest of the team to expedite room turn-around.

d.

Cleans the room and all equipment at end of procedure.

e.

Applies monitoring devices as EKG leads, BP cuff, and pulse oximetry probes.

Assists with preparing patients for procedures.

Emergency Call.

a Assumes the responsibility of taking emergency call and arrives at the hospital within 30 minutes of notification.

Follows departmental guidelines for requesting time off.

b.

Assures call days are covered when conflicts in schedule occur and follows departmental guidelines for requesting time off.

Improvements in Lab- Utilization of Time.

a.

Uses time efficiently when downtime exists.

Stays busy cleaning or straightening Lab, cabinets, and work area.

b.

Maintains neatness cleanliness and readiness of lab and unit.

c.

Uses resources appropriately, identifies waste and participates in process improvement.

d.

When scheduling patients, assures all data is entered correctly and appropriate.

e.

Works to correct problems in the Lab when they occur.

Discusses with Team Leader, Nurse Manager, Medical Director, or other team members.

Inventory Management.

a.

Reports to supervisor any equipment or supply product failure.

Reports any problems associated with supplies.

b.

Assists with the evaluation of new products/supplies.

c.

Stocks rooms on a daily basis.

Assures stock is rotated and pulls expired/near expiration products from circulation.

Assists with keeping inventory neatly placed.

Quality and Safety Actions/ intervention to address patients immediate to assure maintaining high quality and safety standards prior to and through the completion of procedures.

a.

Responsible for assuring all team members and visitors are adhering to Radiation Safety Practices and ALARA.

b.

Demonstrates aseptic/sterile technique and identifies the differences.

Observe other team members to assure in compliance.

c.

Assures time-out is complete prior to procedure per hospital protocol.

Participates in time-out and verifies correct patient, correct procedure, and correct site.

d.

Assists with positioning and transporting patients with the highest concern for their safety and comfort.

e.

Inspects lead aprons annually and on initial purchase.

Notifies Radiation Safety Officer and team members who use aprons, if problems occur with inspection.

Assure all apron inspections documentation is forwarded to Radiation Safety Officer.

f.

Uses PPE face shields, glasses, mask, as required by AORN standards and TOSHA.

Assist with annual review of sharp safety alternatives.

g.

Demonstrates proper techniques for pulling sheathes and establishes hemostasis.

Reports complications to Team Leader or Nurse Manager and completed PSN as indicated.

h.

Demonstrates proper techniques for assisting with closure devices.

Professional Development.

a.

Takes responsibility for professional educational development Sets and completes a minimum of two professional goals per year.

b.

Presents one educational program annually.

c.

Maintains current BLS and ACLS certifications.

d.

Completes in-services on new supplies and equipment.

e.

Assists in training/orienting new staff members.

f.

Takes opportunity to attend education programs within and/or outside of hospital.

g.

Uses resources appropriately.

Looks for ways to reduce costs.

Reviews new policies, procedures, updates when received.

a.

Takes opportunity during down time to review insite information related to safety, infection control, sentinel events, customer satisfaction, National Safety Standards, Compliance, etc.

b.

Attends staff meetings and participates in conversation related to issues and reviews hospital email twice weekly.

d.

Reviews specific departmental updates and announcements (ex: EDIS board, memorandums, huddles, and etc). Position Qualification: Associates Required Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school.

2 years Preferred Minimum two years clinical experience in cardiac catheterization lab and/or anciogrpahy lab.

Years of Experience can be related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licensure, Certification, Registration ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologists BLS Basic Life Support
