Project Engineering Manager
Would you like to play a key role in the new Enterprise Business Process Modernisation (EBPM) programme within Head Office? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Engineering Manager which can be based anywhere in the UK.
The EBPM programme is a large transformation programme aiming to address and solve enterprise-wide issues such as inefficient processes, siloed working, and outdated toolsets. These are common issues identified by our colleagues in employee surveys and can affect everyone in the business across all sectors and functions. You’ll be part of the newly formed team aiming to overhaul ways of working over the next few years.
As Project Engineering Manager your role will be to shape and develop the technical aspects of the programme which includes overall system architecture, interfaces between application tools, migration planning and strategy. You’ll focus on optimising our internal delivery, speed, and agility through your cross-functional working and collaborative approach.
Your main responsibilities as Project Engineering Manager will include:
· Lead the design and development of the technical aspects of the Process Modernisation programme:
o Requirements definition and management
o Interface definition and management
o Integration and testing strategy
o Migration and deployment planning
· Provide technical support for the Head of BMS in the deployment of Navigator
· Lead and facilitate technical discussions as well as design and solution development (including training plans to address any technical skills shortfall required by BAE employees)
· Perform appropriate engineering planning, management and review activities to ensure the programme is fully compliant and delivered within agreed requirements for cost, quality, time and schedule
· Assure the maturity of the developed solutions is appropriate for the specific requirement and that all technical risks and opportunities are captured
· Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to mature the technical aspects of the programme to a level such that benefits can be realised
· Ensure all engineering activities are undertaken in line with the Operational Framework and that compliance with all engineering policies is maintained
· Sign off for design, legal and technical requirements for a project or service
· Support the Chief Process Office to shape the development of the business process architecture
· Develop and actively manage key internal relationships, including working with key senior group, functional, sector and business leaders
Your skills and qualifications:
· Extensive leadership experience in key engineering skills which include requirement management, interfaces definition, systems architecture, integration and testing and sustainment post delivery
· Extensive experience of building relationships and negotiating outcomes with internal stakeholders.
· Demonstrable strong commercial awareness in particular working with sub-contracts
· Good experience in delivering software deployment projects successfully
· Demonstrable experience managing the costs for the engineering work within the cost base
· Good knowledge of the domain/context e.g. product, service, business sector and the Defence, Aerospace and Security market.
· Experience in strategy and/or business development within an organisation.
· Good knowledge of several areas within the business and how their processes and resources interact with the other areas to achieve business objectives.
· Good understanding of the BAE Operating Framework and the operating models for BAE business units
