SUMMARY:
The General Accounting Assistant will report directly to the VP of Accounting & Finance. We are looking for a skilled professional to assist in general accounting functions, including but not limited to filing, invoice processing and payment, payroll tax processing and payment, as well as quarter and year end processing. This position requires accuracy and the ability to perform such tasks by specific deadlines.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Payroll/Withholding tax filing preparation and payment
Quarterly and Year End tax processes
Entering payable invoices into our system for payment and completing check runs
Researching any past due invoices
Scanning all checks and invoices into our document storage software
Data Entry of Monthly Transactions
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles
Ability to make competent use of work-related equipment and materials
Ability to remember information (e.g., policies, procedures) or locate resources to find information as needed
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with others
Ability to work with other team members as well as independently
Ability to shift back and forth between two or more tasks
Cooperative, team-oriented, patient, calm under pressure
Ability to understand and accurately apply basic math skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet
Ability to make competent use of work-related equipment and materials
Ability to arrange things in certain order (e.g., alphabetically, numerically)
Ability to produce results within an autonomous environment, within company guidelines and have the flexibility to identify and respond to changes in priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to provide excellent customer service to all clients (customers and employees)
