Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8a-5p; open to four 10-hour shifts
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide direct primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, chronic disease management, lab/radiology interpretation, and referrals (50%-60% clinical time)
Supervise and mentor 2-4 Nurse Practitioners, offering clinical guidance, chart review, case consultation, and professional feedback
Act as preceptor for new NPs or PAs; oversee onboarding, clinical supervision, and performance evaluation
Design, implement, and monitor clinical quality improvement activities, including peer review, chart audits, and QA/CQI programs
Maintain and update clinical policies, procedures, and protocols aligned with tribal, state, and federal regulations
Participate in strategic planning, program expansion, and grant development or reporting
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and credentialing of new clinical staff; manage provider scheduling and performance appraisals
Ensure compliance with tribal, state, federal, and accreditation requirements; lead accreditation preparation processes
Serve as clinic liaison with external partners and represent the medical department at meetings
Provide comprehensive clinical care at a primary care level, including educative, curative, preventive, and rehabilitative services
Develop and implement standards of care and evidence-based practice protocols
Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to develop educational programs
Participate in committees and staff meetings to promote integrated clinical practice and quality outcomes
Assist with maximizing access to care, telehealth utilization, and best practices
Oversee vaccines for children program, lab services, and maintenance of CLIA certification
Additional Information
Michigan medical license required
Board certification in Family Medicine required
Basic Life Support (BLS) and DEA certification required
Supervisory experience required
Previous experience in a medical director role is a plus
Preference given to candidates with tribal health experience
Proficiency in RPMS software and Microsoft Office applications is necessary
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management, and strong interpersonal skills are essential
