An excellent opportunity has arisen to be based at Normandy Barracks, HU17 7LX as a Head Chef. This is a Full time opportunity which will be 5 over 7 so will need to be flexible for weekend work.

Within this role, you will lead on all food production and safety compliance across the premises. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to put their own stamp on things, build relationships and lead a team to success.

A day in the life of a Head Chef:

• Management of a single large kitchen or multiple kitchens with a team of Chefs and Assistants

• Ensure tasks are appropriately allocated so teams are fully utilise and food preparation activities are delivered using standard recipes and in line with Aramark brand standards

• Responsible for ensuring efficient execution and delivery of all food line products in line with the daily menu

• Maintain integrity of the standard Aramark food offer; responsible for maintaining food quality and integrity of items at all times

• Accountable for stock flow and rotation of product within the unit

• Overall accountability for the performance of the Food Preparation team, including performance monitoring, record keeping, recruitment and development.

• Lead the team to use best practice Food Production techniques using the Aramark systems and brand standards.

• Handle customer complaints

• Maintain communication with all team members and third parties as required e.g. client contacts

• Ensure team meetings and daily briefings take place for all food items, necessary information and any critical updates in partnership with the Unit Manager

• Direct and coach team members to learn procedures and standards for all kitchen tasks, ensuring all training and development needs are met

• Ensure complete compliance with food safety and health and safety legislation

• Manage incidents, near misses and health & safety issues

• Ensure shift opening and closing checklists are maintained

• Maintain good working relationships with all members of the team

You'll be set up for success if you have:

• Experience as a Chef in a hospitality/ food service/ contract catering environment.

• The ability to lead and manage a team.

• Strong organisational and time management skills.

• Flexibility and ability to work on own initiative.

• Confident with IT programs i.e.: word, Excel, PowerPoint, experience with databases.

• DBS and Site security vetting is required for this role.

• Food safety Level 3.

• To understand the Food Allergen procedure and COSHH Procedure.
