PROCESS ENGINEER/PROJECT MANAGER

We are seeking a PROCESS ENGINEER who is ready to contribute across the full project lifecycle—from process simulation to commissioning.

The PROCESS ENGINEER will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing processes involved in the extraction, production, and processing of oil and gas and will provide engineering and commissioning support for new capital industrial infrastructure projects such as multi-well production facilities, large central gathering stations, oil terminals, and saltwater disposals. The role and skill set is a key position in expanding JH’s services to the midstream and downstream sectors.

The position will report to Derek Blough, Engineering Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Process Design & Optimization

Design and optimize oil & gas production, processing, and water treatment systems

Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)

Perform simulations and calculations (e.g., ProMax) to size equipment and optimize conditions

Identify efficiency, cost reduction, and safety improvement opportunities

Project Engineering & Execution

Lead and manage process engineering scope across multiple capital projects

Provide technical support during design, construction, and commissioning phases

Participate in hazard reviews and safety evaluations

Support automation and controls team through cause & effect reviews

Review 3D piping models and facility layouts to ensure constructability and operability

Develop and maintain alarm/trip settings, process narratives, operating procedures, and training documents

Field Support & Team Collaboration

Participate in Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI) and field commissioning

Interface with client teams, equipment fabricators, and third-party vendors

Mentor junior engineers and support internal knowledge sharing

Step into general project management roles when process engineering scope is limited

Qualifications

Required:

BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

5+ years of process engineering experience (upstream oil & gas preferred)

Strong understanding of:

Process modeling and simulation (ProMax preferred)

DCS/PLC systems and process safety

Plant design and operational reliability

Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Willingness to travel 10–15% to client sites, vendors, and fabricators

Preferred:

Autodesk Plant 3D (P&ID and 3D modeling)

ProMax

Programming experience (Python, VBA, etc.)

Familiarity with midstream and downstream facilities

Experience with gas and liquids gathering systems
