Relationship Manager – Surety & Guarantee (Financial Underwriter)
Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
About Tokio Marine HCC
Tokio Marine HCC is a global specialty insurance group with a strong presence in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and beyond. As part of the Tokio Marine Group, with 146 years of profitable growth, we provide niche financial products that enable businesses to seize opportunity with confidence. Just as we support our clients, we invest in our people: offering competitive compensation, career development, and a collaborative culture that rewards curiosity, initiative, and expertise.
Why This Role?
As we expand our Surety & Guarantee business in Continental Europe, we are looking for a high-performing Relationship Manager / Financial Underwriter to join our Amsterdam team. This role is ideal for professionals with 3–7 years of client facing experience in banking, financial analysis, or surety underwriting, who enjoy working with large corporate clients and want to take ownership of complex and strategic relationships.
You’ll be joining a small, independent team of experts that values both entrepreneurial spirit and teamwork. We serve an international and dynamic client base across sectors like construction, offshore contracting, manufacturing, energy, logistics, and shipbuilding.
What You’ll Do
Own client relationships: Manage and grow a portfolio of international corporates (turnover > EUR 500 million), engaging directly with CFOs, Treasurers, and senior finance stakeholders.
Conduct financial underwriting: Perform deep credit analysis, assess risk, and draft well-argued credit memos to support internal decisions.
Structure & negotiate: Work on (syndicated) surety/guarantee transactions in collaboration with banks, insurers, debt advisors, and legal counsel.
Drive growth: Identify new business opportunities and actively contribute to expanding Tokio Marine HCC’s footprint in the region.
Be a key team player: Support colleagues in day-to-day client servicing while contributing to a culture of excellence, accountability, and mutual support.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Law.
At least 3–7 years of experience in a relevant financial field (corporate banking, credit analysis, trade finance, surety, etc.).
Strong understanding of balance sheets, cash flows, and financial risk assessment.
Familiarity with loan agreements, financial instruments, and legal documentation.
A client-first mindset and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently at C-level.
Proactive, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial: you take initiative and get things done.
Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
What We Offer
A competitive base salary tailored to your experience, plus a lease car and attractive benefits.
A supportive and ambitious team environment where your impact is visible.
Opportunities for European business travel and participation in international team meetings and training events.
A flexible, people-first workplace with a focus on work-life balance and long-term development.
About the Surety & Guarantee Team
Our team and product are trusted alternatives to traditional bank guarantee business. We help corporates improve liquidity by providing surety solutions that free up bank credit lines. Our work closely resembles credit underwriting in banking, but in a more agile and entrepreneurial environment. Our strategic focus is on arranging and participating in syndicated or club transactions with other banks and insurers. Collaboration and trust are at the core of our culture.
Ready to Take the Lead?
If you want to build lasting client relationships, apply your financial skills in a growing specialty area, and be part of a future-focused team, we’d love to hear from you.
