GENERAL SUMMARY
Plans, coordinates, and supervises the flow of work of internal audit staff. Leads and performs compliance, statutory, and financial audits of County offices. Tests the adequacy of internal controls over financial transactions and County assets. Reviews, analyzes, and validates the accuracy of financial data using computer-aided audit techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in supervising Internal Auditors. Reviews staff projects and compilations. Assists Audit Manager in planning and coordinating the activities of staff.
• Provides guidance and recommends solutions for challenges encountered by staff, offering hands-on assistance as necessary. Ensures staff are well-trained and cross-trained to ensure flexibility and coverage, stepping in to support team members as needed.
• Manage Fee Officer's Account and review general ledger transactions under accounting supervision.
• Perform audits of assigned offices and departments.
• Assist in audit completions and provide audit status to County Judge, Commissioners and District Judges on a quarterly basis.
• Review Local Government Code and other statutes to ensure integrity of Johnson County's compliance with statutory audit guidelines established by the State and County.
• Interact and communicate with elected officials, department heads and department personnel on the status of ongoing audits.
• Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals.
• Assists in completed audits and verify accuracy of documentation prior to submission to appropriate office or department.
• Perform other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
• Complies with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, with 3 to 5 years related experience. CPA, CIA, or CFE certification preferred. Ability to collect and analyze financial data and draw logical conclusions. Ability to recognize risks and communicate those risks to management for action. Ability to make decisions based on relevant criteria. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficient use of spreadsheet and word processing required. Data mining techniques preferred.

• Working knowledge of Texas Local Government Code and other statutes
• Ability to interpret and communicate statutes
• Knowledge of the office or department being audited
• Proficient in accounting and audit procedures

• Proficient in computer software applicable to the position, Excel, Word, Outlook, and audit software
• Internet research skills
