What You'll Do As A Program Administrator 1 with the Traffic Safety Program:

Acts for administrator & provides program direction by relieving superior of non-routine administrative duties related to traffic safety program areas (i.e., seat belts, pedestrian &/or nonmotorized, etc.) established under the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO):

- Research & analyze information for assigned program areas such as crash problem identification, best practices on programming used in other states, & additional countermeasures that can be used by OTSO; Provide technical advice & recommendations to administrators regarding program implementation

- Research & respond to complex or confidential inquiries received from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), other states &/or sub-recipients pertaining to traffic safety program areas

- Formulate & implement program policies, operational procedures, & best practices; Interpret federal, state & local laws to ensure compliance; Communicate policy updates to all stakeholders; Provide technical advice to aid administrator in decision making;

- Respond to programmatic issues or needs of staff &/or external customers; Transmit decisions & directives regarding program rules & operating procedures;

- Stay up-to-date on NHTSA rules & regulations by reading various publications (i.e., newsletters, manuals, etc.) or attending trainings & webinars; Provide advice to staff & supervisors regarding updates &/or changes;

- Develop & provide guidance on project proposals & program plans for the following required federal documents: Grant solicitation package for potential sub-recipients, Highway Safety Plan, Annual Grant Application, Annual Evaluation Report;

Perform other duties as assigned.

Option 1

36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in business administration, management science or public administration.

Option 2

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration;

AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position which involved limited research & public contact.

Option 3

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file - Traffic Safety, city or regional planning, sociology, vehicle/mobility safety management or engineering, public health programming or related field;

AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position which involved limited research & public contact.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above
