The Town is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our Water and Sewer Maintenance team! The Equipment Operator performs skilled work operating trucks and medium to heavy equipment in the installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, utility lines, storm drainage and related facilities and systems.
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 7am-3pm; Rotating on-call shifts; Extended hours are often required for emergency response, to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Operate trucks and equipment in the construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, utility lines, storm drainage and related facilities and systems.
Perform general labor tasks.
Operate front-end loader, back-hoe, bush hog, cat loader, and other medium to heavy equipment in the performance of installation, construction, maintenance, and repair tasks.
Operate equipment as a member of a crew involved in water and sewer line, street and drainage installation, maintenance and repair work.
Clean equipment as necessary.
Assist with asphalt repair following water and sewer line construction maintenance and repair projects.
Perform grease trap inspections, backflow inspections, and fire hydrant flushing.
Unclog sewer lines and apply chemicals, as needed.
Repair and/or install water meters and repair utility lines, when needed.
Occasionally service and perform minor repairs on heavy equipment.
Assist in snow and ice removal.
Work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays in all types of weather conditions.
Perform related tasks as required.
Requirements
Experience Required: Some experience in the operation of motorized equipment
Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED
Certifications: Valid Virginia Driver’s License required;CDL Class B with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsement required; Work Zone and flagger certification, First Aid & CPR, Confined Space and Trenching Safety certifications preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

Work Environment
Outdoors; The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, atmospheric conditions and wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Physical Demands
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
Compensation details: 19.38-25.2 Hourly Wage
