We are excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer specializing in the Data Center domain to join our dynamic DSI Tech team.
The position requires the individual to be responsible for managing the installation of dedicated wide area internet connections at various speeds from the Common backbone to various customer locations. This position requires a strong understanding of Tier 1 ISPs' Routing Policies (WAN experience) as well as Network design, Routing, DNS, IP Subnetting, TCP/IP protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP, and EIGRP), and Security: NAT Configuration, Proxy Servers, and Firewalls. Telecommunications, Good knowledge of (OCX, T3, fractional T3, T1*s and fractional T1, ATM, and Frame Relay, Voice Over-IP). Hardware (Routers, CSU/DSU, bridges, multiplexers, servers and switches configuration) Strong project management skills are required to compliment the technical knowledge necessary. The position has overall responsibility for implementing the service to meet the customer’s requirements, both technically and logistically.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in designing and implementing secure and manageable security infrastructures, providing senior-level security engineering and operational support for security enforcement points and related LAN infrastructure across multiple brands. At the same time, ensuring that a broad and deep exposure to security, network, and server security best practices is applied and utilized.
The position also requires the individual to be responsible for managing the installation of security solutions in the enterprise platform for various customer locations. The individual is responsible for, but not limited to, order assessment, technical evaluation, technical troubleshooting, overall project management, problem solving and final test and turn-up of the service to the customers. Good communication skills are necessary to organize outside customers, contractors, managers and non-management personnel to implement the service.
Position Responsibilities
An employee in this position will be responsible for communicating directly with customers. Work may be performed in our Configurations Center or on-site at customer facilities.
Pre-sales efforts such as bid response, SOW generation, BOM generation, Presentations and Demonstrations.
Perform remote and on-site client consultation: plan, design, implement, and support the data center infrastructure
Develop and implement the technical architecture and physical design of the network: analyze existing voice and data networks and recommend solutions
Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems
Assist Account Executives during the sales process by educating the customer about new technologies
Assist in the management of projects
Ensure a stable performance environment for enterprise computer applications
Must be comfortable working in a demanding environment where client satisfaction is our goal
Directs the work of other technical team members and subcontractors
Work is performed with minimal supervision by senior management
Knowledge transfer and working well within a team are essential for success essentials
Will effectively communicate with clients and end users
Excellent English verbal communications and written documentation skills are required (must have the capability to write SOWs (statement of work), respond to technical requirements for RFPs (Request for Proposals)
Facilitates calls between the customers and various teams to resolve any issues
Tracks critical order milestones to meet customer delivery date
Escalates issues and problems on behalf of the Customer
Manages the entire order provisioning process
Coordinates final testing between the customer, consultants, and communication technicians
Perform other related duties as required. *
Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree required.
CCIE Data Center or equivalent level certification required
A Minimum of 5-7 years of advanced hands-on experience
Traveling can be up to 50% of the time, within the state of VA or out of state
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and/or as a part of a team
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Ability to follow directions and pay attention to detail
