Description
St. Croix Health is looking for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team! This position will work day shifts, Monday through Friday. Training will take place on-site (at St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin location). Once fully trained, hybrid with partial remote work considered.
Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for tracking and resolving outstanding payment issues and reconciling of accounts to ensure efficient, timely and accurate payments of accounts as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Post customer and insurance payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions
Accurate data entry
Understanding of payer remittance advice
Appropriate calculation of contractual adjustments and routing of denials
2. Post revenues by verifying and entering transactions from payments received
Prepare bank deposits
Resolve balancing discrepancies
3. Research misapplied and missing insurance remits
Understanding of insurance payers
Attention to detail for follow-up with payer
4. Perform A/R reconciliation to General Ledger
Understanding of the accounting processes
Ability to research and resolve reconciliation issues
Technical ability to process deposits electronically
Requirements
Education & Licensure:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associates degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred
Experience:
Previous hospital/clinic business office experience required
Previous experience with reconciliation processes required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication and listening skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities
Proficient in relevant computer software (Microsoft Excel)
Attention to detail and accuracy
Role-specific Competencies:
Basic knowledge of accounts receivable
Basic knowledge of office administration and procedures
Basic knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures
Basic knowledge of general accounting principals
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
