Exciting opportunity to be a Lecturer within the School of Medical Sciences

Base Salary starting from $122,830 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science education in the world. With over 100 years of excellence in education, we are proud to be training the next generation of medical scientists who will be leading members of the medical research community with an innovative integrated curriculum. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Education) who applies their learnings through research and scholarly activity to inform their education practice in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. They make significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, and design and evaluation and will be on a trajectory towards leadership in educational design and delivery. They dedicate the majority of their contribution to teaching (up to 70% - 80%).

This position is exclusively designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals under the provisions of Section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

Your key responsibilities will be to:

undertake independent teaching in discipline, contributing to outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation and outcomes that support programs within medical sciences and health

engages in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University’s expectations and standards for education

designs and delivers quality educational units of study and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements

contribute to the design and delivery of multi-disciplinary work-integrated learning units and content

engage in supervision of research students at undergraduate level, in accordance with the requirements and expectations of the School/ Faculty/ University

undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

About you

Bachelor’s Degree with either a completed higher degree by research, currently undertaking a higher degree by research or with lived experience.

identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

experience in teaching and learning in medical sciences or across the healthcare sector, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings

demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives

experience in conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity

experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings

ability to communicate effectively.
